G-M-U, G-M-U, G-M-U!!!!

Coach Jim Larranaga and his team's bench celebrate a second-half run in win over U-Conn. (Preston Keres/Post)

It's a little expensive posting a blog on a satellite ADSL connection on a island beach in Thailand, but it's worth giving a shout out to my alma mater. The boyz at GMU made it to the NCAA's 2006 Final Four. The team barely even made it to the tournament because not many thought the team was good enough to compete. It's nice to see underdogs overcome great obstacles every once in a while.

So here's to the Patriots:

Patriots’ Dreams
By Carol Boyd Leon

To the green and gold
We will ever be true
Here and wherever we roam.
And we sing of a place
Where the young and the old
Give the patriots’ dreams a home.

To our alma mater,
To George Mason,
Our University,
To the place where freedom
And learning stand proud,
Where the past and the future meet.

From Pohick Creek, And around the globe,
We sing in unity,
With our voices raised, And our spirit strong,
We go forth to reach our goals.

To the green and gold

We will ever be true
Here and wherever we roam
And we sing of a place
Where the young and the old
Give the patriots’ dreams a home.
And we sing of a place
Where the young and the old
Give the patriots’ dreams a home.

(Side note: Sara and I were married at George Mason's house in Mt Vernon.)

Anyways, hello and good-bye from Thailand.

And, Go Patriots!!!

Hey Leo, you know Amber's a GMU alum too, right? And she had no idea they had a hoops team! Of course, this is the same woman who took a magazine to read when we went to see Arsenal play in London.

"Green is for MONEY, Gold is for HONEY." I read that somewhere but don't remember where. It's all Good!
