Burning away the layers

Down beneath our many layers lies the bedrock of Self. It is where Vision and Understanding, Peace and Light live within us.

Once in awhile our layers catch fire, sending us into an instinctual frenzy of self-preservation from destruction. If we can slow our reactionary responses enough, we will see that this burning is not destruction at all but rather, Preparation.

Burning away the layers. It is the way a farmer prepares his fields in the Spring. It is the way a healthy forest makes way for new growth. It is the way of the Phoenix, consumed by fire and rising anew from the ashes.

Burning away the layers, down to where God's mind and mine are Thinking, to where God's eyes and mine are Seeing. To the perfect unfolding. Burning away the layers in preparation for what is next.

And so it is that we move beyond disappointment and confusion to listening again for the Wise Voice, whispering our foot into its next step~
