Artwork by Zachary Blandford

"What a Beethoven, Shakespeare or Picasso has done is not create something, so much as they have accessed that place within themselves from which they could express that which has been created by God. Their genius then, is actually expression and not creation."

-from A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson.

Zachary painted this little girl from a photo in a magazine. The girl captivated, haunted, and inspired him, all at the same time. The painting is about as tall as I am and hangs in his and Julie's home. Zach's neighbor in Florida came over one day and saw the painting leaning against the wall and was so moved by it that she commissioned him to paint a portrait of her daughter who passed away the previous year. It was his first commissioned piece, and if I were to guess, it will be the first of many. Brother has an amazing talent to "express that which has been created by God". I feel really proud of him and his dedication to his craft inspires me.

I remember the girl's portrait with face only. I'm sure this is a different one.
