Oysterfest Eve

Brrrr, it is cold this morning! 36 degrees on the thermometer. Time to turn on the heat. Gotta warm this place up for the Florida folks! Papa and Dee Dee come today! Pick'em up at 4 in Boston. There is a festival on this weekend in Wellfleet called Oysterfest. It's the 6th year they've done it and each year it draws a few more people than the last. 10,000 last year. Wellfleet is a tiny little place so 10,000 will feel like 10,000 for sure. Looking forward to seeing all the artists showing their wares, people watching, and of course, the Shucking Contest!! I'm sure the world's fastest shucka, Chopper (aka Choppa), will be there watching the show. For those of you who read this blog with regularity, you might remember that Erik, Leo, and I met Choppa last year at the Bomb Shelter (the local bar in Wellfleet). To jog your memory, my opening line to him was, "so....do you shuck?" Don't worry, he won't remember either which means I get to ask him that question again, which cracks my biscuits up! But I digress. Sunday is a 5K run that Papa and Dee Dee have signed up for, part of the Oysterfest. Makes me think of Mary Thorne and her "running a race in every state" aspiration. Wish you were here Mary!! Aaaaaand, last but not least, in fact most surprising of all, is that the Bearded are coming to play for the Oysterfestivities! All the way from Tennessee! That's right. We had nothing to do with it, 'bout fell out of our socks when we found out. Can't wait to see our good friends and groove to their jams at the Beachcomber. So, needless to say we have some fun in store over the next couple of days. Sharing time and space with Papa tops the list. It's been awhile!

I did not make it to the dump yesterday afterall so I am rearin' to go this morning. Possible stop at the Egg Lady's house. A peek at the ocean. O happy day~

For the travelers, the Travelers' Psalm and I hear my Grandfather's Reverend voice, "May the Lord preserve your going out and your coming in, both now and even forevermore. Amen."

Amen!

O happy day. It's comin through this post sister. Amen to all the good vibes that are on the docket for Wellfleet this weekend.

Have a great visit with Papa Blandford.

And post a picture of that beautiful shaved head of your husbands. I'm sure he looks like a very reverent monk and I'm sure you're glad he's not.

:)

Love you, Em
