not all who wander are lost

not all who wander are lost

Awake bright and early here in Washington DC. What's in the paper? Obama Obama Obama. What nice headlines to wake up to. An exciting time to be back in this country. Driving in last night and seeing all the national monuments lit up against the sky, the concentric orderly loops of traffic, the lights of the Kennedy Center, driving over the Potomac River, the big stone buildings of downtown. I got a little chill/wiggle up my spine to be back here again. I'm so thankful we had the courage and opportunity to leave. I'm also thankful that we get to peek back in before the next chapter of our lives begin. Full circle. Hellos and goodbyes. Such intensity these days my heart looks like fireworks, exploding in nostalgic rays of light. A parallel reality of being so excited to be here, see friends,  be face to face with precious ones. An octave away from my bliss is a strong ache for the Sri Lanka tribe. Living with the heart wide open. There is something about honoring the goodness of what was, to wrap yourself in it, and feel everything that comes with that.

Your absence has gone through me
Like thread through a needle.
Everything I do is stitched with its color.

"Separation"

I'm about to walk to the office. I remember my first morning walk to NHQ in October 2000. I have a little of that same awe and excitement today. Can't wait to be face to face with friends. Picturing Gayathiry walking these same streets in November. Wide-eyed like I still am. It never gets dull this crazy mess of a wonderful life.

Tangled up in love,
Sara
