early london morning

yesterday (dec 8) we landed in london around 11am. after long delays at the airport, we threw our BIG HEAVYIES into a london cab and drove into town. rush-hour downtown london was like eye-candy to these american-sri lankan dawgs. we were exhausted but determined not to sleep until we had walked and looked around. after checking into our ultra-cool hotel, we headed out on foot, battling what felt like FREEEEZING cold tempuratures. we didn't get too far. blissed out looking at the shapes and textures of the OLD archetecture. we visited a funky little book bindery and looked into the windows at restaurants serving haunches of venison. finally the sun slipped below the skyline and it really got cold. it was only around 5pm but we were freezing, hungry, and feeling like it was late at night. we ducked into an italian nook and had some red wine and began to thaw. yummy spinach & ricotta canneloni and mushroom ravioli. i had a green salad that was like climbing into a veggie forest adventure. my vegetarian tastebuds were in heaven. a few dark earthy greens, green peas, green beans, broadbeans, and delicious honeymustard dressing.....ahhhhhh. happy and full and warm and content, we headed back to our hiphotel. we were asleep around 8 and this morning awoke around 6. we're in bed with wireless internet, coffee, the paper, and bbc on tv. today we are considering breakfast, a visit to camden market, a city bus tour, watching the manchester united & manchester city game in a pub sippin' our favorite tipple. at 6, our friend from hikkaduwa sri lanka, Kalu, and his very pregnant wife Wendy will meet us for dinner. tomorrow morning we leave for the States. FUNFUN. Have a happy day. Cheers, Sara & Leo ~
