One of the things we've missed while living in Sri Lanka is big family breakfasts!
Yesterday we putz'd around, had our coffee, read the papers, discussed the state of the world, and then decided to go downtown to the Fleetwood Diner for some Hippy Hash. Hippy Hash is a lovely mix of hashbrowns and whatever veggies are available in the fridge at the time and feta cheese crumbles. Deeeeeeelicious. The Fleetwood is the perfect diner. All crome'd out, neon lights, friendly waitstaff, and good food. This morning's breakfast hasn't happened yet but I can already tell ya all about the joy......bacon is sizzlin' on the skillet, a bowl full of eggs waiting to be scrambled, lots of OJ, brothers sisters mamas papas gran & mor-mor aunties uncles doggie and little Griffin boy (a total of 8 sweet souls). It smells good, it's loud with cooking sounds, family egg orders, there's laughing, Griffin is singing a little ditty with a plastic bowl on his head and Sunshine the chocolate lab is staking out her under-the-table spot, waiting for the bacon crumbs to drop. It's good to be hoooooome.
