What pulls us from the snarls of superficiality, from meaningless things? What asks us to stop everything, to be fully present, for our hearts to stay soft and our minds awake to impermanence? I can think of many things....among them suffering and tragedy. I wish not to create meaning where there is none, but rather to recognize that there are lessons tucked in even the darkest of corners.
