gram and gramps

A few pictures of my time with Gram and Gramps. They are two of my favorite people. My grandfather, a retired pastor, a nature lover. Gram, an historian/storyteller. They continue to be interested, awed even, of the world around them. A beautiful attribute in anyone....it makes life rich, the heart so thankful.

While I was there, the days seemed reduced to hours, to minutes, to moments of physical and spiritual essence. Only things that matter, matter. How grounding. And in such moments, often quiet and unassuming, the humility and grandness of spirit shines most bright, undistracted.

At the dentist

At the farm where Grandpa grew up. The barn was raised in 1907, Gramps was born in 1919. He had many memories to share of that time, that place. It was in the 20s(F) that day, brrrrr. But that didn't stop us from picking a few apples from the old apple tree. Frozen of course but I bit into one anyway for the taste of an apple that Grandpa's dad might have planted 100 years ago!

They are preparing to move from their home into a new apartment in a few weeks with the help of their children and grandchildren. I am mindful of the strength of spirit this move requires of them,

"As thy days, so shall thy strength be..."  we whisper to the Wind~
