Dakotas - vast peaceful beautiful spaces

Prairie lands

There are approximately 350,000 buffalo in the US. Many of the wild herds can be seen in North and South Dakota. We came over a ridge this morning after camping in Theodore Roosevelt National Park and saw this family enjoying the warm sunshine. It was chilly last night in the North Dakota badlands! Longjohns and thick sleeping bags. We kept the rainfly off though so we could see the stars. Amaaaaaaazing.....we wished upon lots of stars last night, sending good vibes and remembering you where you are, acknowledging that you are with us in spirit....you'd LOVE THIS....

"The Needles" in the Black Hills of South Dakota

Can you see this silent creature, beautifully blended into his environment? A big 'ole owl!

Prairie dogs! We passed several prairie dog towns this morning...fields of little holes and these little dudes popping their little heads out as we drove by.  Prairie dogs and buffalo are signs of a healthy prairie environment. It was great to see such vast beautiful protected spaces...

North Dakota beauty...

Mount Rushmore, South Dakota

Soon we'll head to Denver to get in on some of the Convention activity before heading up to Yellowstone, Tetons, and Glacier.
